Twenty-20 cricket demands every player to be expert at both batting and bowling. Hence, all-rounders are considered requisite and are in great demand in all T20 leagues across the globe.

We have seen Shahid Afridi, Andrew Flintoff, Sanath Jayasuriya and Paul Collingwood, a few greatest all-rounders in the world playing in Indian Premier League. Now we have Ben Stokes, Andre Russell, Shakib Al Hasan, Hardik Pandya and James Faulkner as Modern all-rounders performing in their part in Indian Premier League.

  • Hardik Pandya

A player who can finish off match with his bat and can bowl with discipline, becomes a game changer in the (Indian Premier League) for their team. One such player is Hardik Pandya. He is an integral part of Mumbai Indians. He has been their greatest all-rounder for the last many seasons.

He was the leading wicket-taker for Mumbai Indians by taking 18 wickets in 13 matches in IPL 2018. Also he was the fifth highest run scorer for Mumbai Indians by scoring 260 runs in 13 matches. He is also an exceptional fielder.

  • Shane Watson

Shane Watson has been a vital member of the Indian Premier League since its commencement. He was crucial in the winning campaign of Rajasthan Royals (RR) during the debut IPL release, in 2008. From that point, the Australian cricketer has been a regular performer for all the franchises he has represented. In IPL 2018 auction, Chennai Super Kings bought Shane Watson for Rs 4 Crore. By making 555 runs in 15 innings, made his best aggregate among all the IPL seasons. Also he took 6 wickets with an economy of 7.94.

He played a crucial role in ILP 2018 Finals against Sunrisers Hyderabad and scored a victorious century and helped CSK to clinch the ILP trophy for the third time.

  • Washington Sundar

Washington Sundar is one of the youngest talented cricketers in the country at present. He is a Batting All-rounder. In 2018 Nidahas T20 tournament, Sundar got 8 wickets in 6 innings. During the tournament, he took a maiden 3-wicket pull, making him the most youngest T20 International bowler to do so.

In 2017 IPL, Sundar played for the Rising Pune Supergiants and bowled exceptionally well in the season guiding his team to the finals. In the 2018 Indian Premier League Auction, he was purchased by Royal Challengers Bangalore.

  • Sunil Narine

Sunil Narine, the greatest spinner to play the IPL, is the only foreign spin bowler to pick up 100 IPL wickets. He has been a crucial player for Kolkata knight Risers when they won their titles in 2012 and 2014.

So far he has scored 628 runs in 98 IPL matches and took 113 wickets at an economy of 6.55.In 2018 IPL Auction, off-spinner retained by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 12.5 Crore.

  • Ben Stokes

Ben Stokes, the greatest all-rounder in international cricket right now. The first edition for him was IPL 2017. Rising Pune Supergiants picked up him at a whopping amount of Rs 14.5 crore, making him the most expensive players of the season 2017.

Ben Stokes scored 316 runs and picked up 12 wickets in 12 innings and was considered as the “Most Valuable Player” in the IPL 2017 season. And again in ILP 2018, he became the most expensive player of the season. And this time he was bought by Rajasthan Royals at a whopping amount of Rs 12.5 crore.

  • Shakib Al Hasan

Shakib Al Hasan is one of the most experienced all-rounder. He is a living example of a perfect cricketer because of his ability to bat as well as ball equally and also he is a dependable fielder as well.

He has been participating in the IPL from 2011. And so far, he scored 737 runs in 60 IPL matches at an average of 26.31 and a terrific strike rate of 127.28. He took 57 wickets at an economy rate of 7.39 runs per over. In 2018 IPL Auction, he was purchased by Sunrisers Hyderabad for 2 crores.

  • Moises Henriques

The Australian all-rounder has performed for five different IPL teams so far. These teams are:-

  • Kolkata Knight Riders
  • Delhi Capitals
  • Sunrisers Hyderabad

In IPL 2016, Moises Henriques was a part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad and achieved the IPL 2016 trophy. When it comes to Indian Premier League, he is a skilled player. He scored 969 runs at a strike-rate of 128.27 in 57 matches. In bowling also he took 38 wickets. In the 2019 IPL, Moises Henriques is a part of Kings XI Punjab.

  • Axar Patel

Axar Patel has proved himself as one of the leading all-rounder of Indian Cricket Team. In IPL 2014, Kings XI Punjab gave him a call and purchased him for Rs 75 lakh. He obtained the “Emerging Player” Award. Axar Patel has scored 1765 runs and took 61 wickets in 68 IPL innings. In the 2019 IPL auction, Delhi Capitals bought him at a whopping amount of Rs 5 crore.
